The HYPER-AI project as participated in the 31st edition of the ICE IEEE/ITMC Conference, held from 16 to 19 June 2025 in Valencia, Spain. Represented by Thanasis Moustakas from CERTH, the project took part in Special Session on Cognitive Computing Continuum, which gathered leading EU-funded initiatives tackling next-generation intelligent and distributed systems.
During the session, HYPER-AI made key contributions by:
- Presenting its approach to hyper-distributed AI, where autonomous smart nodes manage computation across cloud, edge, and IoT environments.
- Emphasising self-organising computing infrastructures, designed to adapt dynamically to context and resource availability.
- Highlighting real-world applications in sectors such as disease detection, precision agriculture, and smart energy management.
- Discussing technical strategies for reducing energy consumption and improving latency through smart orchestration.
- Actively engaging in the joint panel, offering insights on methodological commonalities, integration challenges, and opportunities for convergence with fellow projects like ENACT, EMPYREAN, SWARMCHESTRATE, MYRTUS, and COGNETS.

Participation in this session strengthens HYPER-AI’s position within Europe’s strategic vision for a cognitive computing continuum, as promoted under the CL4-2023-DATA-01-04 call. The project’s focus on autonomous smart nodes and self-organising computing infrastructures places it at the forefront of innovation in hyper-distributed, AI-powered platforms.
