Open Community for Research
From Open Research to Real-World Impact
21–23 April 2026 | Brussels, Belgium
The Open Community for Research (OC for Research) is a major European event bringing together researchers, innovators, and industry leaders to explore how open-source technologies transform scientific research into real-world, scalable solutions. Organised under the umbrella of the Eclipse Foundation, the event will showcase how collaborative development models, open standards, and transparent governance foster innovation, interoperability, and sustainability across Europe’s digital landscape.
The conference will feature four thematic tracks, ranging from the creation and reuse of open-source “technology bricks,” to innovative real-world applications, policy and governance support for research, and future-oriented studies on open-source ecosystems. Participants will have the opportunity to share success stories, learn from best practices, and engage with key actors driving Europe’s open technology agenda.
For HYPER-AI, this event represents an excellent opportunity to connect with the European open-source community and to exchange insights on how decentralised AI architectures and distributed computing can contribute to more transparent, energy-efficient, and sustainable innovation ecosystems. HYPER-AI’s focus on interoperability, edge-to-cloud intelligence, and open research aligns closely with the mission of OC for Research — to bridge the gap between scientific excellence and practical, open innovation.
